What type of residences are available at The Legacy Willow Bend?

The Legacy Willow Bend is a Continuing Care Retirement Life Care community offering residential options for Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Short-Term Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Long-Term Skilled Nursing Care.

What is Life Care?

Life Care is a comprehensive plan which allows you the freedom to live and plan your life without the concern of maintaining a home or facing the decision of where to go for health care should the need arise. Life Care offers access to extended health care services – such as assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing – which is funded through the payment of a one-time entrance fee and predictable monthly service fees.

What is the purpose of an entrance fee?

Your entrance fee is a one-time payment based upon the floor plan of your independent residence. This fee is 90-percent refundable to you or your estate if you leave The Legacy for any reason. The fee provides for lifetime use of your residence and guaranteed priority access to all on-site health care services.

What does the monthly service fee include?

The monthly fee is an all-inclusive charge which is determined by the size of your residence. A portion of this fee covers the operating expenses of the entire community. It also covers a wide variety of services and amenities which enhance your life at The Legacy Willow Bend, such as chef-prepared meals, maintenance and upkeep, utilities, weekly housekeeping, underground secured parking and storage, scheduled transportation, fitness center membership and classes, concierge services, social activities and events, to name a few. It also helps offset the Life Care benefits of health care services, if needed.

What if I run out of money?

Life Care at The Legacy Willow Bend lasts for a lifetime. If you outlive your resources for reasons beyond your control and are unable to pay your monthly fee, you will still have priority access to on-site health care services, which will be funded by the refundable portion of your entrance fee. With Life Care, you are protected for life.

How is a Life Care community different from a rental community?

While rental retirement communities may offer an independent lifestyle and amenities, they generally don’t offer higher levels of care, and if they do, you pay “market rates.” The rental payment is not working for you beyond the month in which it is paid. With Life Care, you benefit from a stabilized monthly service fee, plus guaranteed priority access to higher levels of care at lower than market rates. It is a long-term plan, not a month-to-month plan.

How can Life Care and long-term care insurance work together?

If you have long-term care insurance, you may be eligible to receive benefits from that policy for assisted living or comprehensive skilled nursing care. Your policy will most likely work hand-in-hand with Life Care and pay earned benefits directly to you. You should consult your insurance carrier or agent for specific answers about your policy.

Does Medicare cover the cost of Assisted Living or Memory Care?

Unfortunately, there is a common misconception that Medicare subsidizes the cost of Assisted Living or Memory Care.  This is not the case.  These services are considered residential in nature and are not covered under any Medicare program.  This is another reason that the Life Care plan is so beneficial, as it helps control the costs of these higher care areas.

What is the average length of stay for a skilled nursing/rehabilitation admission at The Legacy Willow Bend?

It can vary depending upon individual insurance providers, but the average stay is 21-25 days.  For information about your specific insurance benefit, please call the Admissions Director for The Legacy Health Care Center at (972) 468-6283.

Who owns The Legacy Willow Bend?

The parent company of The Legacy Willow Bend is The Legacy Senior Communities, which is a Jewish-sponsored not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a history of more than 60 years of serving seniors in the Greater Dallas area.
