What Does Personal Care Assistance from The Legacy at Home Provide?

Many of the clients served by The Legacy at Home simply need help with a few of the basics of daily living, which is why The Legacy at Home offers the services of our personal care assistants for seniors. Our personal assistants can also provide in-home respite care, allowing family members or other caregivers to take a temporary break. Our focus is to help seniors maintain their quality of life at home and to keep them living their lives their way, as well as to lighten the load of full-time or family caregivers.

Personal assistants are frequently used to supplement the care of a family member or other caregiver by fulfilling a task the others cannot. For instance, a small woman may need to hire someone capable of moving her spouse from a chair to a bed, or an adult child may not feel comfortable assisting a parent with bathing. The additional help can provide family caregivers with peace of mind and allow the person being cared for to remain at home.

Though they cannot provide medical services, such as diabetes care, The Legacy at Home’s personal assistants deliver care and companionship when you can’t be there, or when you simply need a hand. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our personal care services include:

  • Care for patients experiencing confusion
  • Safe transition care
  • Overnight companion care
  • Advocating for hospital patients
  • Respite care
  • Companionship
  • Scheduling and transportation to and from doctor’s appointments
  • Assistance bathing, dressing and grooming, as well as meal preparation and eating
  • Transportation to errands, grocery shopping, etc.
  • Aid with walking and mobility
  • Incontinence care
  • Managing or performing light housekeeping and laundry duties
