Mom moved into her beautiful apartment at The Legacy Willow Bend in 2022. It was easy to turn the apartment into her home. At the beginning of our journey, I had no idea how much being a Life Care member of this community was going to mean to our family, and how quickly its benefits would impact us.
The concept of Independent Living absolutely described my mom as she took part in happy hours, dining with friends, movies, choir, and other activities. She had her car, handled her bills, and came and went as she pleased. Things went pretty smoothly until Mom had a fall, and we moved her to Assisted Living in 2023. I was worried about Mom’s transition, but the staff made it so easy and comfortable that Mom didn’t miss a beat. She became active again and made more new friends, but an illness made it necessary for us to add The Legacy at Home caregivers to help with daily living skills. Ultimately, we moved her to Memory Support just two months later.
What a journey this has been learning how to let go of what we cannot handle and turning it over to caring staff who know how to keep Mom happy, occupied, and most importantly, safe. When I visit now, we can spend our time enjoying being mother and daughter, instead of caregiver and patient. The staff always makes me and our family feel welcome and involved. I cannot say strongly enough how thankful I am for every single person that we have worked with at The Legacy.
