A Soulful Story: Devora Rubin

November 24, 2023

"Feeding the Jewish Soul" is a weekly series offering insights into The Legacy's daily impact on the seniors we serve.

Devora Rubin moved into The Legacy Midtown Park in August 2021. For the last two years, she has been on a wellness journey with goals to fight a cancer diagnosis and to walk again after a fall and serious injury. With the motto, “Keep moving, every step counts,” Devora started by exercising in her room and doing group fitness classes. She also worked with John, a physical therapist, focusing on functional mobility.

Devora recommends owning your exercises, only you can make them count. You will have setbacks, but it’s important to fight through it and never give up on your goals. Determination and motivation are your best friends. If you are having a hard time getting started, she thinks group classes are the best way to start.

We are happy to share that Devora, 94 years old, is currently in remission and has resumed exercise classes, plays volleyball, and walks confidently around campus.

Congratulations to Devora on reaching her goal!
