The Legacy Senior Communities’ volunteer program was created to help fill our residents’ days with meaning and joy, and to give back to our greater DFW community. Volunteer opportunities at both our Plano and Dallas communities are plentiful, and we welcome volunteers of all ages. Use your own talents or skills to engage with our seniors in a wide range of activities. We’re always open to new volunteer ideas, too. The gift of your time can make a real difference in the lives of our seniors.
Since 2010, The Legacy Knit & Crochet Club has been crafting handmade items using donated yarn. These items are then distributed to local not-for-profit organizations dedicated to assisting families in need. We kindly request your assistance in our endeavor by contributing medium worsted (#4) yarn in a range of vibrant colors.
To volunteer at The Legacy Senior Communities, each individual or group leader must complete the volunteer application. Volunteers will receive an email with information on the volunteer onboarding process, which includes a background check and orientation. Once approved, you will be notified of the volunteer positions that are available.
Assist our Lifestyles team with jewelry-making, leading art classes, piano-playing, story-telling, book club, playing cards, or accompanying seniors on outings. Or, pick up your knitting needles and assist The Legacy Knit & Crochet Club, which donates more than 4,500 items to over 15 not-for-profit groups that serve the homeless and underprivileged in the Dallas and Plano area.
We offer our specialized Dementia Aware training to all volunteers to handle the specific needs of Memory Support residents. Assist our Memory Support team with art classes, wellness, reading, music, outings, and other programming specifically designed to bring meaning and purpose to those touched with memory loss.
Our hospice program, through our Legacy at Home division, provides training to hospice volunteers. Whether it’s a hand to hold or a shoulder to lean on, hospice volunteers can have a significant impact.
If you are a returning volunteer, you can access your profile conveniently through the Volunteer Information Center
