This week the Tzofim Friendship Caravan came to The Legacy
Friends of Israel Scouts, Inc. – Tzofim (FOIS) encompasses programs which develop and maintain a connection between the Tzofim (Israel Scouts) movement in Israel and North American Jewry. The Friendship Caravan specifically brings excitement, energy, and harmony to North America through goodwill and performance.
The Tzofim Friendship Caravan performed their one-hour-long show at The Legacy Midtown Park, followed by The Legacy Willow Bend. Residents sang, danced, and cheered along with the ten teenage performers.
The teens are chosen to be members of the caravan based on their maturity, fluency in English, and talent in the performing arts. After several rounds of competitive auditions and interviews, the scouts spend a year training and rehearsing for their exciting summer in North America.
The first Friendship Caravan came to the United States in 1973 to bring a message of hope and peace for Israel. Since then, the program has grown to three different caravan groups traveling across North America. The caravan came to Dallas in 1991. The Legacy Midtown Park resident, Magie Furst (pictured above), was part of the committee that helped bring the caravan to Dallas 32 years ago. After the performance, the Scouts were excited to meet Magie and speak to her about her history with the program.
The Legacy is lucky to have hosted the Friendship Caravan for 20 years, and their annual performance is a favorite event for residents and team members.
Make more moments like this possible by supporting The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation. It is our great honor to care for seniors. We continue to uphold the mission of our founders by providing a continuum of care to seniors and their families delivered with compassion, dignity, and excellence, while embracing our Jewish values.
Every year, The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation, with support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, provides more than $1 million in charitable care to Jewish seniors in the Dallas area. This care includes resident support and thousands of hours of Personal Assistance Services provided by The Legacy at Home grant program.
It is the community’s continued support that leaves an imprint on the present and future of our organization, creating a level of distinction we call The Legacy Difference. This distinction includes Jewish life initiatives, Kosher dining programming, social events and activities, resident transportation, security, and much more!
The Legacy is able to respond to the most urgent and changing needs of our residents and their families, and the growing demand for senior care and services thanks to our generous donors.
Swing by our Blog every Friday to welcome in Shabbat with a new story highlighting the life seniors live at The Legacy Senior Communities.
