A Soulful Story: Musical Notes

August 11, 2023

Feeding the Jewish Soul is a weekly series of posts that will give you insight into what The Legacy does day in day out, and how it impacts the seniors we serve.

The Legacy is lucky to have many musical performers play for our residents at The Legacy Willow Bend and The Legacy Midtown Park. These musical performances range from students practicing concert pieces to professional performers sharing their passion with our residents. Either way, our residents look forward to musical performances because it brings them joy and entertainment. Team members look forward to performances because it is known to lower stress, help with memory processing and recall, reduce symptoms of dementia, and promote faster healing and managing physical pain for residents.

Joram Wolanow has volunteered at The Legacy since our days at Preston Hollow. Joram was trained at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College music program. He graciously volunteers every Friday and is a resident favorite for his talent and passion for the piano. He and his wife, Carole, also volunteer for their free, self-service mobility equipment center. They are true mensches in our community!

Recently, a string trio from Plano East Senior High played for Assisted Living residents. Their performance had high attendance and the group ended up spending additional time afterwards talking with residents about their musical pieces and music in general. It was a great bonding moment for the young performers and residents.

Make more moments like this possible by supporting The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation. It is our great honor to care for seniors. We continue to uphold the mission of our founders by providing a continuum of care to seniors and their families delivered with compassion, dignity, and excellence, while embracing our Jewish values.

Every year, The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation, with support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, provides more than $1 million in charitable care to Jewish seniors in the Dallas area. This care includes resident support and thousands of hours of Personal Assistance Services provided by The Legacy at Home grant program.

It is the community’s continued support that leaves an imprint on the present and future of our organization, creating a level of distinction we call The Legacy Difference. This distinction includes Jewish life initiatives, Kosher dining programming, social events and activities, resident transportation, security, and much more!

The Legacy is able to respond to the most urgent and changing needs of our residents and their families, and the growing demand for senior care and services thanks to our generous donors.

Swing by our Blog every Friday to welcome in Shabbat with a new story highlighting the life seniors live at The Legacy Senior Communities.
