A Soulful Story: Honor Your Mother

May 5, 2023

Feeding the Jewish Soul is a series of weekly emails that will give you an insight into what The Legacy does day in day out and how it impacts the seniors we serve.

Deb Silverthorn recently attended Shabbat service at The Legacy Midtown Park with her mother, Barbara Schulman (pictured above). Rabbi Cohen offered the mother and daughter the opportunity to open the ark during the service. Afterward, Deb recalled the last time she was on the bimah with her mother was at her bat mitzvah. This impromptu opportunity brought back happy memories but also created a new memory that will be cherished just the same. When Rabbi Cohen asked for the pair’s participation, little did he know he would be creating a lasting memory for mother and daughter.

In honor of Mother’s Day, make more moments like this possible by supporting The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation. It is our great honor to care for your mothers, fathers, and other dear loved ones. We continue to uphold the mission of our founders by providing a continuum of care to seniors and their families delivered with compassion, dignity, and excellence, while embracing our Jewish values.

The Legacy is able to respond to the most urgent and changing needs of our residents and their families, and the growing demand for senior care and services thanks to our generous donors. This Mother’s Day, make a tribute donation to The Legacy in honor of your mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, or special woman in your life. The Legacy will promptly send a tribute notecard to the honoree notifying them of your generous gift.

It is the community’s continued support that leaves an imprint on the present and future of our organization, creating a level of distinction we call The Legacy Difference. This distinction includes Jewish life initiatives, Kosher dining programming, social events and activities, resident transportation, security, and much more!

Every year, The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation, with support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, provides more than $1 million in charitable care to Jewish seniors in the Dallas area. This care includes resident support and thousands of hours of Personal Assistance Services provided by The Legacy at Home grant program.

Swing by our Blog every Friday to welcome in Shabbat with a new story highlighting the life seniors live at The Legacy Senior Communities.
