A Soulful Story: Grieving Together

November 11, 2022

Feeding the Jewish Soul is a series of weekly emails that will give you an insight into what The Legacy does day in day out and how it impacts the seniors we serve.

Recently, an Assisted Living resident passed away. This was a very stressful time for her family as she was very young and their father also passed away very young.

The Associate Executive Director assisted the family in moving their mother’s belongings out of her apartment. As he and the family walked through the community moving furniture, they were stopped in the hall by two dining room servers who used to wait on their mother and wanted to tell them how sorry they were and how much they were going to miss their mother.

Then as they walked passed a sales team member, who did the initial move with them, she stopped to give the sons a huge hug and tell them how sorry she was for their loss.

Finally, as they made their way to leave they were stopped by the concierge team who had been watering and caring for a plant that was delivered to their mother after she passed away. The team member explained that she and all the residents had been taking care of this plant in anticipation of giving it to them.

Residents become family at The Legacy and this is just one example of how multiple team members and departments care and choose to do the right thing for a grieving family.
