A Soulful Story: From Ethiopia With Love

February 23, 2024

"Feeding the Jewish Soul" is a weekly series offering insights into The Legacy's daily impact on the seniors we serve.

Rediet Bekele is currently the Dining Manager at The Legacy Willow Bend. She is beloved by team members and residents for her attentiveness and dedication. Rediet started at Willow Bend in 2015 as a server and has continued to work her way up to her current position. She has been awarded Top Ten recognition countless times and voted by her peers as team member of the year. The Legacy is lucky that Rediet shares her Ethiopian culture with residents and team members through educational demonstrations and delicious meals.

Rediet entered a lottery when she was 19 and won the right to come to the U.S. She left her family, including her daughter, and friends behind to come to America. Ten years (and seven attorneys) later, Rediet recently became a U.S. citizen! With this accomplishment, she is now able to bring her daughter and mother stateside to join her in Dallas.

The Legacy is so grateful for Rediet and honored that she is part of our family.
