There are over 100 forms of dementia. Every case is unique in how it presents and affects patients. Currently, there is a non-verbal Memory Support resident at The Legacy that has been living with us for one year. Team members have gotten to know her routine and what she likes and have done their best to make her comfortable and happy. For the last year, she has continuously paced around the hallways. It is common for dementia patients to pace as it helps with their restlessness and often repetitive actions are comforting.
There have been exciting additions to the programming in Memory Support. These creative activities have brought this particular resident out of her shell, has significantly decreased her pacing, is much more animated, and has even spoken and sung songs with team members! Her progression in the last few weeks has been so positive and reinforced team members’ efforts to always be improving and trying new ways to enrich our residents’ lives.
Make more moments like this possible by supporting The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation. It is our great honor to care for seniors. We continue to uphold the mission of our founders by providing a continuum of care to seniors and their families delivered with compassion, dignity, and excellence, while embracing our Jewish values.
Every year, The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation, with support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, provides more than $1 million in charitable care to Jewish seniors in the Dallas area. This care includes resident support and thousands of hours of Personal Assistance Services provided by The Legacy at Home grant program.
It is the community’s continued support that leaves an imprint on the present and future of our organization, creating a level of distinction we call The Legacy Difference. This distinction includes Jewish life initiatives, Kosher dining programming, social events and activities, resident transportation, security, and much more!
The Legacy is able to respond to the most urgent and changing needs of our residents and their families, and the growing demand for senior care and services thanks to our generous donors.
Swing by our Blog every Friday to welcome in Shabbat with a new story highlighting the life seniors live at The Legacy Senior Communities.
