A Soulful Story: A Bird’s Eye View

October 11, 2022

Feeding the Jewish Soul is a series of weekly emails that will give you an insight into what The Legacy does day in day out and how it impacts the seniors we serve.

There was a short-term Healthcare Center patient that spent her days at home caring for her six birds that she dearly loved. After becoming a widow last year, her days now revolve around caring for her birds. The patient’s family was concerned about her being away from her birds during her short-term rehabilitation stay. Before the patient’s arrival, a Legacy team member took it upon herself to print off many pictures of birds and put them throughout her room in the Healthcare Center. When the patient arrived, she was so happy to see birds decorating her room. It gave her a sense of comfort and she also enjoyed talking about birds with staff throughout the day. While some may just see pictures of birds, this patient, her family, and The Legacy team member saw it as much more!
