Be a donor. Be the difference.

It is our great honor to care for seniors. The Legacy Senior Communities continues to uphold the mission of our founders by providing a continuum of care to seniors and their families delivered with compassion, dignity, and excellence, while embracing our Jewish values.

Every year, The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation, with support from The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, provides more than $1 million in charitable care to Jewish seniors in the Dallas area. This care includes resident support and thousands of hours of Personal Assistance Services provided by The Legacy at Home grant program.

It is your continued support that leaves an imprint on the present and future of our organization, creating a level of distinction we call The Legacy Difference. These funds enable The Legacy to respond to the most urgent and changing needs and the growing demand for senior care and services.

WAYS TO GIVE

The Financial Assistance Fund

These funds further our commitment to our seniors, making our services available to those who need financial help in order to pay for care. Partnering with the Jewish community and the entire Legacy community, we plan to grow our endowment to ensure we have resources available to assist those in need.

  • The Legacy Willow Bend: Provides long-term Medicaid rooms in the Healthcare Center for eligible low-income seniors and Assisted Living and Memory Support rental subsidies for eligible seniors.
  • The Legacy at Home Personal Assistance Services: Services decrease the risk of injury and hospitalization for low-income seniors still living at home by providing assistance with: bathing, grooming and dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry, escort to doctors’ visits, shopping, errands, companion care, recovery from illness, and transitioning home from hospitalization.
  • The Legacy Midtown Park: Provides long-term Medicaid rooms in the Healthcare Center for eligible low-income seniors and rental subsidies for eligible seniors.

Testimonials

“You are so kind,” one Legacy Willow Bend Independent Living resident said to Rabbi Cohen. “You make such a difference to so many of us. I cannot thank you enough. Your calls and caring ways and your prayer today were so very helpful for my physical anxiety and mental depression. You are a blessing!”
Upon meeting Rabbi Michael Cohen, one Legacy Midtown Park Assisted Living resident stated, “When I met you, I knew I was home.”
Story

Using your donations for good.

The Legacy at Home had the opportunity to help a married couple, both Holocaust survivors who moved here from Russia to be cared for by their daughter. The couple’s daughter worked full time, which made caring for her father who was blind, in poor health, and who couldn’t speak English, a challenge. Making the situation worse, neither the daughter nor the couple had the financial means to hire appropriate assistance. Through our grant program, LAH provided the family a caregiver in their home three days a week to help with meal prep, personal needs, light housekeeping, errands, and overall safety and companionship. The husband has since passed, but we have provided weekly care since 2018.
