How long has The Legacy at Home been serving the Greater Dallas area?

The Legacy at Home is now the largest not-for-profit home care provider in the Dallas area, and has served our community since 2011. Our parent company, The Legacy Senior Communities, has served area seniors since 1953.

How do you select and train your employees?

Employees of The Legacy at Home go through a rigorous screening process which exceeds industry requirements. Our screening involves background checks, license verifications, national criminal background checks, reference verifications, skills competency tests, drug screens and ongoing specialty training.

When are you available to talk to me?

The Legacy at Home has on-call staff available via telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All you have to do is dial 972-244-7700.

Will family members be taught about the care that I receive?

Yes. Part of the process for home health care involves instructing family members or caregivers about patient care. Our medical team will provide instruction on a variety of issues related to patient care so that you can safely assist your loved one every step of the way.

How do I know if home health care is right for me?

Our services are available on an insurance or private-pay basis, and we are always available to discuss your needs or answer any questions you may have.


In order for home health care to be covered by private insurance or Medicare, these basic requirements need to be met:

1.)   The patient must be confined to the home and be in need of skilled services.

2.)   The patient must be under the care of a physician and receive services under a plan of care established and periodically reviewed by a physician.

3.)   The patient has had a face-to-face consultation related to the primary reason he or she requires home health care services with a physician no more than 90 days prior to the start of home health services.

What process do you use in hiring staff?

Good people are, indeed, hard to find. However, through the rigorous screening process we use at The Legacy at Home, we’re able to find the best nurses, caregivers and therapists in the area; people who meet both our tough standards and yours. Our screening process is as follows:
